Message: Paxton is the best for someone wanting to add more and more. Vortech's are for mildley modified engines. And pooperdynes you dont even want.

Message: by any chance do you know it is that makes the paxton better than the vortech? i heard that procharger comes with an intercooler.

Message: Paxton provides the most CFM and it is also capable of providing 27 pounds of boost. One of hte greatest things about the paxton is its own belt system. Belt slippage is not an issue with the paxton unlike most others. Procharger does have an intercooler system but it is very small and air/air intercoolers are not the most effecient anyways. Air/water is much better if you dont mind the small upkeep.

Message: I have the procharger, and really like the package except the 4x4 intercooler. The 2 wheel drive is much better.
Not to knock the water intercoolers, but Air to Air systems are better for street applications. Water intercoolers are better suited for short run (drag racing) and marine applications. Water does work on the street too.
From what I've read, procharger or paxton are definatly the way to go. Again, I really like my procharger, but Mopar318 has a great setup with the paxton.

Message: Hi, Ijust came across this discussion and wanted to add my $.02 regarding the intercoooler on the procharger. It is my understanding that intercooling is needed on their system because the ineffieciency of the blower causes so much heat, and we know heat robs power. [Intercooling a better design like paxton will produce greater efficiency, and even more power.]
If you are not seriously needing extreme power, [and have stock bottom end, and trans] prolly any would be "OK", and ease of install, maintenence, tuning, and cost are factors to consider.

Message: well i do like the fact that the paxton is capable of 27psi. but what i like about the procharger is that for the same price of a paxton you get a intercooler. im pretty much lookin for what would give me the most power though. i plan in the future to make the short block and tranny stouter than stock.

Message: If you want the most power for your money a vortech would probally be a good choice. You will have less trouble with the paxton though. The dual belt configuration is a plus. You wont get any belt slippage. Paxton's and vortechs are around the same price range so you just gotta pick what you feel will suite you. If you want to eventually make a 12 sec truck a paxton would probally be a better choice. Intercoolers dont cost that much either. Im planning on adding hood fins and designing a top mount intercooler to my truck if I do a air/air. If I do a air/water I will just mount is like the GSM kit.

Message: I bought a used kit so it didnt come with everything but I pieced together the rest of the kit. The stuff it didnt come with I didnt like anyways. My kit included the headunit, Belt system, Air hat, Intake tube and filter, MSD BTM (timing retard), MSD coil. And some other odds and ends. I built my own discharge tube from some madrel bent piping and had a BOV flange TIG welded in. I wanted the sound so I went with a BOV instead of a Bypass. The Paxton kit comes with a Bypass valve. I also pieced together my own fuel system. IT consisted of a MSD inline fuel pump and 12:1 FMU. Ran the fuel system in a loop from the pump to the fuel rail, to the FMU and back to the pump. It has worked very well for me. Im not running lean on bit. I took my time on the install. I didnt really have all the parts at one time so I couldnt tell you how long it took. The hardest part is tapping the oil pan for oil drain. Its not really difficult but its just scary poking a hole in that. Im not sure what the power gain was but I dropped almost 2 sec's off my 1/4 mile and I still have traction problems. My best run is a 13.9 at 100.10 MPH. 60' was only 2.236 so I could still get that time way down. I still have the stock engine, tranny alos. With a M1, 58mm TB, Flash, Slicks, and some good flowing exhaust I could probally be in the low 12's range.

Message: well thats pretty good times for a lil 318. you should put the M1 on it. man the m1 on my r/t made a really nice diffrence on topend. if i were to go with a blower i think i would have to remove the hypertech. or i wonder if i could atleast set it to the 87octane tune. i think i just might regester with dakota-durango as soon as i get some new pics. well thanks for the info Mopar318
