would like to increase my towing weight i have 4.7 auto, with 3.55 gears with trans cooler, after market. what else is involved with the change out, and the cost! by going to 3.92 or 4.10s. and would this change the emmisions, live wa state where i have to get smog tested every other year.

The 4.10's would do you perfect. There is no effect on the emissions.

Call up your local junk yard, and see what they get for an axle with the 3.92's. I've found that its close to the same price as buying gears and an install kit. If you would pay to get them installed you will save even more. Best part is, you have an axle to sell. If you can find a set, you should be able to get away with about $100/axle after selling yours. You might even be able to trade the junk yard strait up for your axle.

hey buddyjack i have a 8 1/4 with a new posi unit and its a 3.92 complete rearend(out of my 1997 dakota club cab)new and not used since new posi unit installed!- i put a 9 1/4'' in, the 8 1/4''i had a dodge technician set it up correctly with the dial indicators ( backlash .004-.007) wanna buy it ? $300.00 or make offer emailme sfulton@columbus.rr.com
