That is one awsome truck though. Wait until they put the Viper engine into a Dakota and we will come back and kick their azz. It seems that 154 mph is pretty pathetic but the SRT10 is a tank compared to the Maloo but I don't think 168 mph will be all that hard to beat. However, it would take factory involvement since these are basically stock trucks tuned to the max.

Message: now they just need to put a bed on a viper, and dodge will have the crown again.
since when do cars with a bed compete in the same class as a truck?
i like that trucar but it should not have been put in the same class as a 5000lb truck that has the aerodynamics of a brick.
very stupid!

Whose fault is that? What are you going to do, come up with different classes for every truck with a different weight and drag coefficient? I suppose some idiot said that it was unfair because the SRT10 had a ten cylinder engine instead of and eight when it first set the record. Unibody trucks are not new. There is always the option of Dodge entering a truck with a better weight to hp ratio. A Dakota with a 6.1 might do it.

Message: Capt Obvious it was not intentional to post twice in each forum, my mistake and there was no mention of race other than by you. The reason I posted in other forums was for people to read and comment on the info as N56629 and toolfan have. Daddio the Maloo is a utility vehicle "utes" as we call them, similar to the Chevy El Camino, I didn't make the rules, there are difference between the two vehicles and I would love to see Dodge put a Viper engine or a 6.1L Hemi in a Dak, I would be the first to buy one. Shatto "It ain't what you say, it's how you say it, mate" I didn't know you were an expert on the Aussie language or how to interoperate it. I've traveled the world and lived here 15 years without giving Aussie's a bad name. If you would like to discuss who gives whom a bad name overseas that's another story. I am proud of the US an would fight for it, that's why I buy American autos, but I am an AUSTRALIAN and am equally proud of the contributions we have and will continue to give to the world regardless of people who bash other's comments. PS Thanks oh boy.

Message: While unibody "trucks" might not be new - most of us have always considered them more car than truck - for example, an El Camino is just a Chevelle with a truck bed - not what most of us would consider a real truck. Has any of us ever really considered a Dodge Rampage a truck ? Not me !

Message: As aussie said, it is for utility vehicles. Presumably that might also include things like the Durango and Avalanche. We could argue that an SRT10 is not really a "utility vehicle" and had no place in the race to begin with. Oh well, racing is the name of the game and something better will always come along.

Message: lol i don't think i would buy that to pull a boat. neither would i buy the srt-10 rc to pull a boat. but the simple fact is the srt-10 did quite a feet compared to the AUSTRALIAN ute.
I like the Ute and wouldn't mind own one if i lived in Australia.
how do you like living in Australia Aussie?
