I have a 97 Dakota and it recently started squealching while ideling and driving. The sound is not consistent, but it is extremely annoying. I checked the belt and it seems to be on tight and in good shape. Oil pressure is fine and temp is normal.
The problem did start about 2 weeks ago after I tried my ac that did not work, but I am not sure if the 2 defintely may be linked. Just wondering if anybody else ran into this problem?

I had a bad water pump. Thanks to the people who responded to this thread. I am so glad I could only post a ? by paying. Tactics like this will keep the site going for a while. I guess a refund is out of the question.
