My '91 Dakota 5.2 has a surge at idle. It used to run up to 1500-2000 until I replaced selinoids on throttle body and it idles down where it should but it acts like it is a carb and loads up when under part throttle, regardless of gear. If I put it in neutral, rev the engine up and clean it out then it will run okay for a while.
No problem when under cruise control or short distances when rpm's are up.
Could it be the erg valve?
Lousy mileage in town and about 16.5 + on the open road. It has special order 3.90 gears so that mileage isn't bad.
