Subject: 2000 Headlight Replacement IP: Logged
Message: I was just wondering about replaceing my headlight bulbs in my 2000 dodge dakota. I never took anything apart yet but was looking at how to get at the bulbs.? I can reach one bulb(drivers side) from the back of the headlight lens but was wondering about the passenger side one, I can't get at the bulb from the back..... I was mainly concerned with removing the headlight lense without screwing up the headlight alignment. Can the headlight lens be removed without touching the alignment screws? I know it's not a big deal to realign my headlights but want to avoid it if I can.
The manual i have does not show headlight replacement.
THanks in advance
Glen

Message: I've gotta 2001 and i know on mine you can take the head light off without changing the alignment screws. On mine the alignment screws go into a headlight brace and which bolts onto the truck. you can take the headlight off there and then put it back in without changeing the alignment.

Message: Well, you can get to the back of the Passenger headlight....if you take off your stock air intake tube. Thats what I do on my '02 Dak, 4.7L 5spd. Its not that bad, just takes a little patience, and it eventually sits right in. Have you found any 9007 bulbs that actually give out some "bluish" light, like they all say they do?

Message: Dakota has it right but if you work hard enough, you can get to it and change it with out removing the tube too. I have some big ole hands and have managed to change mine without removing the tube...it was hard but I managed.

Message: One little torx head srew holds the turn signals in. After loosening it, the turn signal assembly will slide out. There are 3 or 4 nuts holding the headlight assembly in place. Take those out and the whole assembly will go to grocery store with ya without upsetting your allignment. Good luck!
