Message: toolfan,
Santa Clause ringing in here,,, I may be a day late and a dollar short though...
I bought a set of Energy Suspensions poly bushings last year to rebuilt the front end of my 2000 2wd,,, then wrecked the truck. I don't know if your truck would use the same kit, but I might be able to make you a good deal, the kit number is 5.3122G. Still new in box.
Ane I bought a set of Energy Suspensions greasable poly bushings for the 1 5/16" front sway bar. Still new in box, part number 9.5167G.
I also bought a Belltech 3/4" rear anti-sway bar that I had on the truck when I wrecked it, probably saved my arse as I blew a rear tire and the arse end of the truck came around at 80MPH... almost sh1t myself on that one LOL. The sway bar is made for trucks without a factory sway bar. I only had it on the truck for 6 months so it's in perfect shape. A 3/4" bar doesn't seem like much, but it made a world of difference in the cornering of the truck.
Can't remember how much I paid,,, make an offer if interested...
Later, Dan

Message: Toolfan, be prepared to spend a couple days drilling, beating, and generally cussing the stock rubber bushings. I've got an '03 and it was a pretty good job. Results are noticeable, and worth it in my opinion. I do about the same kind of driving as you it seems.

Chris i will do just that...cuss at, drill into, beat on, until submission and i have the truck back on the road with new bushings.
did any of you have a clunk that went away after the bushing install? its like a ball joint clunk

Message: Obio3, anything can swapp ends. It is all about the vehicle`s reactions to your imputs. It is called tendence to oversteer and is highly appreciated for most people that prefer rear drive.
No ofense body, but no vehicle does anything by themselves. Take control.

Message: Summit has them - at least for the 99, but I believe it's the same body backwards to 1997. They are Prothane by name & they have them for the upper, lower arms & the sway bars.

Message: Toolfan, check your Email...
To get the rubber portion out of the old bushing casings I prefer a torch to a drill. When the rubber gets crispy the bushings are easy to knock out,,, and the burnt rubber is easy to clean off the sleeves in the control arms. You'll have to hit it with some paint afterwards, but much easier than the ol'drill technique. One thing, don't get in-line with the bushing, I've had the rubber portion come flying out of the bushing sleeve.
On the clunking noise,,, yes. My 00 had a bad bushing on the passanger side (rubber lip that is visable was gone) and it clicked/clunked once in a while.
