 Subject: need help crazy bouncy idle...

I got a 00 QC 4x4 and when ever i put it park the idle jumps around from 700rpms to about 1500 rpms back and forth over and over. when im at a stoplight in drive i can feel the engine wanting to rev but it cant because the gear is holding it, if i dont have my foot on brake with decent pressure it inches forward. what would cause this.
also engine light comes on and it says Emissions system leak or something like that also had a pending code for a power steering pressure sensor. any ideas?
i just bought this truck and love it but its got 137k miles on it so its got some quircks so anyhelp would be great.

ps also need now shocks and have never bought them before and dont want to get reemed at the store any advice?

Also the front drivers side sits about 1.5 inches lower (space between top of tire and fender) then the other 3 corners do and when i push down on it it squeeks and only that side squeeks so i figured thats the shock thats shot right?
i have 31x10.5 tires on it are those much bigger then stock and what d o they do for me good or bad. like better off roading? worse gas milage? this is my first truck but ive been reading these forums for the last year trying to learn as much as i can and u guys are great

Try checking the throttle position sensor with an OHM meter. The Haynes book will tell you what to look for. My 99 4x4 was doin the same thing at stops and while driving on the road it felt like the truck was bucking. 56$ for a new one and all is well. Good luck.

At almost 70,000 , am running original shocks. there working very well yet. My truck has the towing pkg. Lots have complained about the original shocks. Mine may be a better shock with the towing pkg. For this reason I have never priced shocks but in all my readings I believe I will go with better quality none adjustable KYBs. Just my opinion . As for your front leaning problem adjust the torsion bar on that side. Again, get a book. factory manual is by far the way to go. Haynes will get you by for most things.

I have the same '00 Quad Cab and had the same problem.You probably have not noticed but not only does the idle rev up and down, the transmission directed by comands from the computer down-shifts very irratically as well.This condition is more prevalent in wet and/or humid conditions.
The problem is in fact the TPS. It is supposed to be hermetically sealed to keep moisture from getting into the internal potentiometer and wiper and shorting the windings out. However the gray cover seems to become unsealed after a while I guess (another Dodge engineering screw-up)!
The resolution is to disconnect the connector and take the two screws out securing the TPS. Take the TPS out and clean around the gray cover with a little soap and water on a paper towel (taking care not to get any more water inside the TPS). After that, take a hair blow-dryer and heat up the TPS for a minute or so. Then allow it to cool down for around 5 or 7 minutes. Repeat this whole process for around 5 or 7 times. This heating process evaporates any moisture/water inside the TPS and allows the vaporized moisture/water to now exit through the gray covers sides where it got in there in the first place. After allowing it to cool for another 5 minutes or so, take some household silcon sealant (found at home depot or something like that)and seal all around the gray cover's edge. It doesn't have to look pretty. The idea is to seal it up so that there is no possibility that it will become unsealed again in the future. Allow it to dry at room temperature for a few hours and reinstall.
I will be real surprised if this doesn't take care of your problem.

i have the exact same problem on my 2000. wierdest thing in the world, sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. I think I have to try sirlointip's advice

Same thing happened to my 2000 and I sealed it back up and doing fine now.
