Subject: KRC 212 CAMS IP: Logged
Message: according to krc's website the 212 cams for the 4.7:
Requires PCM flash, bigger throttle body, headers, gears and converter, 251 rear wheel, 13.87 ET Club cab all motor, no headers run.
Now, would a superchips work with them instead of a flash? Also, if the stock manifolds flow so well why are headers necessary? Are gears rearend gears?
just looking for some info from people who have or know about these cams I considered the 206 but if they are the same price as the 212, i will go with that.
thanks

Message: Generally reground cams are all the same price, but you wouldn't necessarily be getting more for you money by getting the 212 instead of the 206. With too much lift and duration you most likely will throw a code and performance may actually suffer or at the very least you won't get what you expected. The changes they suggest will give you maximum benefit.
The gears would be the rear end gears. Superchips may help but the PCM can give you more choices in fuel mapping etc.

Message: also, if they're suggesting a converter(higher stall than factory)your low end torque will take a hit. without doing any intake or head mods i'd go with the 206's.

Message: 251 rear wheels?
Ever heard of this?
Rear gears, on the 9.25, usually are: 3.55, 3.92, 4.10, 4.55

Message: Just one thought, you are comparing apples and oranges.
The 198hp was with a 206 cam and flash. The 251 hp likely had a different flash, a larger throttle body and headers. There were more indications of inequities in the two tests. A truck with the 206 supposedly ran 13.90 in the 1/4 and another truck ran 13.87 with the 212 cam. It is simply not clear what differences you would see between the two cams when the engine has no other changes.

Message: yea, you are right, it does seem like two very different tests.
I am planning on getting a throttle body within a few days, F&B 70mm, and a superchips; that is why i am tryin to decide on a cam for later this summer.
another note, its also says that the 212 is KRC's best seller, but most people on here talk about the 206s.....
