My 06 SLT has the emblem Magnum V8 on the tailgate. I assume this is the 230 hp engine, and not the HO model? Thanks, Don.

The 8th position of the VIN denotes the engine.
- N = 4.7L
- J = 4.7L HO
If it were the HO variant, the badging would indicate as such.

Dodge calls all their engines "magnum".
Apparently they like the sound of it, even though Toyota's 4.0L V6 has more HP/TQ than our 4.7L V8.

You got that right, Toolfan ! What's with these idiots who only look at peak #'s instead of usable power under the curve ? No wonder "Uh. Yeah." is ashamed to use his usual screen name. Peak #'s are just a factory sales gimmick; some of you need to look at a graph of power against the whole rev range to get a better understanding of where the usable power is - the 4.7 has significantly better low end torque - a much more powerful truck than a toy with a 6.
