My Dak currently has 3.55s with the LSD. I want to swap in 4.56s. I found a set on ebaymotors for around 300 including shipping, but I don't think I have the experience to install them myself.
Can someone tell me if the installation process is complicated or not? I hear labor is a lot (can someone specify that the labor?) and I don't want to spend a ton of money on installation.

It's kind of tricky to get the job done exactly right. It also requires some special tools. I do almost all my own wrenching, but that I leave to a pro. If you mess this up, you'll be buying a bunch of new parts.
About 2 years ago I paid $850 for a complete diff overhaul with new gears. Parts and labor.

I'd recommend picking up a complete gear & install kit set from a reputable vendor such as www.socaldakota.com, that way you know what parts you are getting.
Labor should only be in the $200-300 range for a 2WD truck. I would recommend having this professionally installed if you've never done it before.

Yes, unforutnately you are looking at double the cost because of double gears/labor, but in the long run if you plan on running larger tires it's well worth the swap.
I had an 86 Toyota 4x4 with 33" tires/etc/etc. and IMHO the gears were what kept it running like a champ both on and off the pavement.
