Subject: Low beam circuit IP: Logged
Message: I purchased a set of driving lights that require me to splice into the "low beam Circuit". Any information on the best way to do this, or where I can find a good place to splice into the system?

Message: Not a good idea. This could cause a possible wiring fire. Headlight wires on these Dakotas are barely big enough as is. If you want them to run only on dim use a relay. Use the dim wire to activate the relay ONLY . Running lights go to relay and relay to battery. Very easy. You want them on a switch? still do it through a relay. This relay system keeps wires short for best voltage and therefore brightest lights. Wire them any way you want them to work but do use a relay.
So many problems .... So little time

Message: Yeah the system did come with a power relay. I wasn't really sure why the system has a wire to run to the low beam circuit, other than to complicate things. Basically the system wires from the lights, to a power relay, which then splits. (black to ground, red through fuse to battery, and white to a 4-pin switch harness. Thats where the red wire comes from to connect to the low beam circuit. So these lights should work without even touching the low beam circuit?
