Im new to the forum and just wanted to ask a simple question. I recently purchased a beautiful 02 Dakota R/T and was wondering whats recommended for exhaust systems? i dont want to exchange anything but the muffler and want to acheive the 'rumble', i dont like high toned exhaust either. Any help is appreciated.

Message: I've got a Dynomax ultraflo welded single to duals (hind sight i would have went true duals), +206 cams, gives a nice deep rumble. I get nothing but compliments.

Message: I have a Flowmaster Super 40 on my 4.7L. It has a throaty sound and literally screams when you lay on it. The Delta Flow 40 has a more "rumbling" sound that is also attractive. It isn't quite as loud as a Super 40. Both do sound very good though.
Steve O is correct as well. The Dynomax Ultraflo mufflers also do sound good. I think there is a clip on the Dynomax website for a Durango w/ a .318.

Message: Check out some Magnaflow systems also. I put a single in dual out Magnaflow on my '01 QC over three years ago, and it sounds awesome. Got lots of compliments over the years. Just an idea. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Message: Trucky, I just have a single Super 40 on mine and it is loud. Dual Super 40's on a 4.7L is just gonna be hella loud. ;) Should sound mean! I think I got a little bit better mileage out of changing the muffler. Maybe 1 more mpg. Has a lot more power though and doesn't feel like it is choking.

Message: oh crap...i live in a neighborhood...oh well : )
now im regretting it cuz everyone is saying its a loss of power with duals...but i got 3 inch in and 2.25 out...one said that was good, so i dunno

Message: From what I've seen, you don't lose much, if any, power. You just won't see a massive increase in power as if you went with true duals. Now if you had gone with 2.5" outlets, I think you would of had a bit of power loss. Going with that smaller diameter should help quite a bit. You'll just have to wait and see, but I don't think you'll have any problems w/ power loss. Heck, anything is better than that stock muffler!

Message: Since you have an R/T and not a 4.7, I thought I'd give my opinion. I have a 318 dakota, which sounds almost the same as the 360, I have a 50 series delta flow, it's a very low rumble at idle, and a very deep mopar sound like you'd expect from a 70's small block mopar. If you'd like a louder one, go with the super 40. It has a louder deep sound but without the interior resonance of the original 40.

Message: I have a 2000 dakota 4.7 and I just today put a 3" cat back system magnaflow on my truck it's gained quite a bit of power and it increased my mileage from 14-15 city to about 17-18 is my best guess like I said I just did it today and have drove for about 2 1/2 hours in the city not much to be said until I do it for a few tanks but I like the sound coming out shorty
