does anyone know where i can get a 5.9 magnum (externally balanced flywheel). dealer price is about 459.99 and none of the local wrecking yards have any. aftermarket wasnt available or if it was, about the same insane price. if anyone has put a 5.9 magnum fuel injected engine in front of a manual...any info would be greatly appreciated

I did the same swap and got the flywheel from the breakers. If the 5.9 does not have a pilot bearing or the flange for one, the whole assy. can be had for about $15 at Advance Auto. It is a very easy swap. Try this link for a flywheel http://www.autopn.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idProduct=18466 They had some in stock when I did mine and the price is right. Need anything else?

Alot of how it runs will depend on the year of the truck. I did a 97 and had a horrible time getting the computer right. I sent it off to X company and had it flashed... 3 times before it was even close. I was told that the 97 was an odd year, so you will probably have an easier time. I can tell you that when it was right, you knew it. Never took it to the track, but it was a great improvment. Rolling burnouts it second gear by just getting on it made it a good time! Oh ya, the flywheel can be off of any year magnum 5.9, truck or van. If I rember right, you will also need to use the oil pan and pick up tube for a Dakota or Durango for it to work. The one you have should be fine.
