im wondering why he didnt run the tank to near empty, and then drop it for the fuel pump change. some people enjoy doing things the hard way.

I think making a hole in bed to change pump is a great Idea. Next one well be very easy to do???????? Provided you make a nice bolt on cap over the hole.

So many problems. So little time

I don't know why you didn't simply unbolt the bed (4 bolts?) disconnect the tail lights and remove one clamp off the filler neck and set the bet in the yard (takes 2 guys). You would have spent less time and would not have had to cut or patch anything. Mine was not new by any means when I installed the body lift and the only thing I didn't have to do was disconnect the tail lights. Everything else took an hour.

Lets cut hoels in the hood for all the fluids! You could of siphoned
the gas out and drop the tank.
