OK- I,m fairly new to 4.7s. I,ve just turned 50,000 on my 01 with a manual trans. I,m having more and more problems with the engine being slow to return to idle. It happens most when downshifting coming off the highway or decelling up to a lite. TPS?

check for a vacume leak....if there is no vacume leak then i would say it is the idle air cont motor.

Could be the TPS, or it could be a sticking IAC like I had. Here are some instructions on cleaning your throttle body for the 4.7L engine (for a Jeep WJ, but it is the same throttle body):

I had a lot of grimy black buildup in my throttle body and in the air channel for the IAC. The IAC itself was jet black and it is a wonder any air could go through that channel at all. Goodluck.
