Subject: rt transmission IP: Logged
Message: Ive got a 2000 dakota 5.9 rt auto trans i had to change the transmission, i bought a used one to replace it, it will only shift into overdrive if i hold it on the mat. I brought it to three different transmission shops for a diognostic test no codes came back the only problem they found is the trans temp sensor reads 29 degrees but the fluid is at correct temp, does anyone know if the temp prob could cause this

Message: yes, if the computer thinks the trans fluid is 29 degrees than it wont shift the truck into O/D.

Message: I'm really surprised the tranny shop didn't tell you that the problem was in the sensor. You have three temp sensors and all of them have to be working for the engine and tranny to function "normally."
If you don't want the sensors to function normal than we modify them. LOL
