Subject: 360 Heads on 318 ? IP: Logged
Message: has anyone put 360 heads on a 318? any performance gain? Do the 360 heads have bigger exhaust and intake valves then the 318 heads?
I am looking to make the head swap , but wanted to know if it is possiable, or just a waste of time. Any advice would be appreciated.

Message: The 360 head swap to a 318 only helps when dealing with the pre-Magnum engines.
In the Magnum line, there is no difference in port size. All the heads have the same port size as the pre-Magnum 360, though they do flow better thanks to some internal design changes that started appearing with the last of the production pre-Magnum heads. The 5.2 Magnum, ironically, has 1.916 inch intake valves and 1.624 inch exhaust valves. The larger 5.9 has slightly smaller valves with 1.88 inch intakes, and 1.617 inch exhaust. So, the 5.2 heads are ever-so-slightly better as stock heads go. The Mopar Performance heads offer larger valve sizes, even the 2.02 inch intakes, but stock, you're better where you are.
