Message: The hub and bearings are all one assembly. You replace it all as a unit.

Message: The parts houses are telling you exactly what there books say. Most of them are parts salesmem not mechanics. You need only get the part # off your old bearings or take one with you after you remove it to a bearing jobber and buy what you need. this wlll save a ton of money plus get you some quality bearings. Pressing out the old bearings is a bit on the dificult side but it can be done.If your tools are to limited or your experiance is less then you feel can handle this, take them to a machine shop. let them press them out and press new ones in. Do a surch on here. There are guys in here that have done this giving the instructions you may need.
So many problems .... So little time

Message: Either Napa or AutoZone gave me the option to order bearings or get the hub assembly. Now that I have a hydraulic press to play with, I wish I could do it all over again & press the damn things!!!
I don't remember how much for the hub assemblys, but
i did change out both. While your at it, check your lower & upper ball joints.

Message: I don't have a 4wd, but have done the GenIII 2wd front bearings. I got the same story from the parts house,,, you need the whole hub assembly, which they didn't have in stock at the store or warehouse
After getting the bearing out of the hub I called them back and ask for the bearing P/N,,, "Oh yeah we have one of those" Heck, they even had 2 so I did both sides.
I didn't have a press, but was able to get the bearings out-in. Heated up the hub with a torch and smacked the bearings and race out with a sledge hammer and trailer hitch ball, 5 minutes max. To install, sheesh that's easy! Hub in the oven at 180 degrees and bearing in the freezer for a couple of hours. The temperature difference causes a few thousandths of clearance and allows the peices to slip together. Better be quick though, it only takes a second or two and the bearing and hub are locked together.
Don't know the P/N's though, try to run a Google search, probably put you right back here with the correct info from an old post.
Hub price from Dodge $200
Hub price from parts house $100
Bearing price from parts house $40
Knowing you just saved yourself $120,,, priceless....

Message: I didnt feel like messing with pressing out the bearings but i did find an inexpensive place online for the whole hub units.
Its www.wheelbearingsinc.com and mine (1998 4wd with 2wheel ABS) was $85 compared to the cheapest autoparts store around here was $125+. These are supposedly manufactured in US, also.

Message: I know that your done with the projects, but i just want to make
shure you did not tighten the spindle nut down too much, on but
them on till they stop and then back it off a 1/4 of a turn. you
might know that but i did not have made a big mistake.
