my oil pressure gage drops all the way down to zero when i come to a stop when the engines warm. then when i get back on the gas, it jumps back up to 50 or so. it used to only do it once in a great while. but now it seems to do it every time i come to a stop. and it only happens when the engine gets warmed up to temp. i use mobil 1 fully synthetic oil. 10w30 or40.. cant remember. to cold to go out to the shop and look. its 97 with a 5.2 engine with 157,000 on it. hope the ole girl isnt giving out on me!

when in doubt stick a mechanical gage on it. then you'll see for sure what's happening. the FSM says min.6psi @ warm idle and 30-80 psi @ 3k RPM.

It's probably the oil send unit I had the exact same thing going on with my 2001 CC before 6,000 miles. Had it replaced under warranty no problems after that.

how much does an oil sending unit cost and how much of a pain in the a$$ is it to replace?

Not too expensive, can't remember how much I paid for one in my old 95. It's easy to replace, buy the socket for it though.

I had to remove my distributor cap to change mine.
