Message: Yup - nice snag - but get someone else to tow it for you; unless you want to risk trashing your bumper and leaving the boat in the road. Your R/T just isn't set up for that.

Message: There are plenty of people towing heavy loads with r/ts. however they all have class three hitches and sometimes have air helper springs (and ofcourse just about all of them have a tranny cooler, but thats a given for any truck with an auto pulling heavy loads) so unless you can get a hitch up under there before that time, i wouldn't try it. you will just end up trashing your bumper like kowalski said.

Message: R/T's are only rated for 2000# of towing off the rear bumper - it's not the engine, transmission, or tow package which is the problem, it's the 1" lower suspension, it ruins tow angles. If you buy a proper class III, IV, or V hitch attached to the frame you can tow at higher limits.

Message: Isn't it actually a softer sprung suspension ? Its easy enough to get the proper angle for any height with a raise or drop hitch.

Message: No I don't believe its softer, if anything it might be a little stiffer.
oh and dan as for the tranny cooler, some dakotas came with a big tranny cooler, others like my rt came with just the lines running into the radiator side and back out... not really a tranny cooler
