Message: Hi, guys!
In 1999, there were two Nippondenso-built units: the "standard" unit at 117 amperes, and the "optional" unit (usually found on vehicles with the "heavy duty service group" option package) at 136 amperes. If yours is the original factory unit, it should have a foil sticker somewhere on the case (mine is on the bottom) that will have the amperage on it. Also, the 136 amp piece has a slightly larger case diameter.
This is only what I have seen on 3.9/5.2/5.9 engines in Daks; Ram trucks around '99 and up have been seen with either of the Nippondenso units or a Bosch alternator similar to Ram Hemis. The Bosch unit is large and round with larger cooling vents on the front, and a black plastic "cover" on the back. The Bosch is rated at 132 amperes, I think.
AFAIK, they will all fit the bracket, but connector and output studs may be in different spots.
ALL better than a Delco or Delphi unit for sure! GM actually uses Bosch on their Impala police cars...
