I am thinking about getting a Superchip programmer to see if I can get better gas mileage out of my 2000 4.7L 4x4. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of results they have seen in a similar application? I am getting about 14 mpg now.

I added HO cams, a homemade intake, bored my throttle body out myself and added a Superchips programmer to a 2000 4.7l with 107k miles on it and woke that puppy up. You will definately see gains with that. I am sure you see gains with just a SC tuner too but do look into the other mods, your 4x4 will like you better!
As long as you keep your gas pedal off the floor most of the time, you'll get better MPG and you'll stay out of the gas station every few days.

Thanks for the advice Izzy. I have already added a K&N FIPK and Flowmaster 40 series Single in Dual out exhaust. I will have to look into some of the other things you were talking about too.

I jsut got one for my 03 4.7. so I cant comment on any inprovement in gas mileage. but this thing hauls now. I havent floored it as I had my 2 year old in the truck with me. but I did punch it a lil hard and when it hit second it snapped my neck back. wasnt expecting that lol.

Yeah, the original 40 series sounds great on the 4.7L. I have a buddy with a 05' Ram with the 5.7 Hemi and he can't get the sound out of it that I get out of mine. He got the super series 40 thinking that would sound better and ended up getting rid of it and putting an original series on. It still doesn't have the base grumble that mine has in idle.
