Subject: 40 series flowmasters! IP: Logged
Message: I was thinking of getting a 40 series flowmaster on my 02 4.7 . Does anyone have this set-up?
If so, how's the sound and off line performance.

Message: The 40 series is the 2 chamber,,correcto??
It's what I have on my '01 4.7 auto. I have the single/dual. Sounds awesome! I have gotten many complements on it.,,,,and just enough growl in the cab to be pleasant. No drone at hwy speeds.
Felt like top end improvement,,but I had it put on a week after I got the truck,,,hard to tell. Just love it! Best/Favorite mod so far.
$240 installed w/tips.

Message: i took off my factory cat-back and bolted up a 40 series in it's place with a turn down and it sound good for me. not too quiet, i do have the drone at 2000 rpm but it is not as bad as some i've heard. i can live with it. i had to install it vertically when i did i could see it from undernieth so i painted the muffler with black engine paint and i can hardly notice it when looking at it. how are yours installed

Message: I had the Factory muffler and catalytic converter taken off and replaced with a performance high flow cat from CarSound and a 40 series single in dual out original flows with 2 steel turndowns.. makes more noise than i expected.. but i cant complain, my truck can literally be heard from a 1/2 mile away on an empty road i also got about a 11% increase in horse power and about 40-50 extra ft pounds of torque from the flowmaster setup

Message: I HAD A 3" delta 40 with a turndown and the sound was good until I got rid of my precats and got a new Y, then it sounded like aZZ. I switched to a spintech 3441 and the sound was vastly improved and I picked up quite a bit of torque with the same top-end as the flow.
If all you are going to do is swap the muffler, then go with the flowmaster, if you are going to really open the exhaust up the get a Spintech.

Message: I have the 40 series 2 chamber in place of my muffler on my 00 4.7L. and i have a gibsom SS 3" tip as well. it sounds awesome! i get compliments on it all the time :-)
My DAK startup/drive away
the reason it cuts off so fast, is that I drive around the house :-) and I'm only going about 10MPH... Its really MUCH louder in person :-) Oh and I only rev to 3K RPMs.
I had to use an OLD VHS camcorder (LOL) on my porch (about 6 feet away from the truck) to record this! it was recorded from the driver's side, opposite of the tailpipe..
