when i pull my shifter down into drive it doesnt go right into gear, it takes a second then kicks in, i think the fluid is ok, any advise??

What year is vehicle? How many miles? It makes a difference. 1st check the fluid level and color while hot. should be a bright red depending on how long it has been since a service. 2nd if it is dark red or brown and it has a burnt smell you may have problems. I would try a transmission fluid and filter change. Some companies offer a total fluid flush. This can be done for about $100.00. Fluid and filter can be done yourself for under $50.00.Good Luck.
