A fellow co-worker of mine had over 150k on his before he traded it in. He never had a problem with it and towed his CJ up and down mountains on the weekend.

When it first came out I think Mopar was claiming the 97th percentile user would see 150k with no major problems.

I have 78k on my '01 QC with the 4.7L. No major problems, just regular maintenance. I agree with Kowalski, I read somewhere that the 4.7L should run 150k with no major problems.

Keep doin what your doin. IF your like me and check out whats going on under the hood once a week your motor will give you years of service. Don't skimp on parts, buy what you need when you need it so little things don't become big things. I have a 99 4x4 with the 5.2 (106000) miles and it's as strong today as it was when it left the showroom floor. I know thw 4.7 and 5.2 are different but how you keep them going isn't.

i have also heard the same with the 150k miles before anything goes wrong in most cases. the hemi engine is also design to give 150k miles with no problems. just hope there claim is true.

i wonder who here has the most miles on a 4.7?

Did this start at some point AFTER you switched to 10w-40? Might be a correlation there...

I've got many relatives & friends who have put 200-300k on their 5.2's w/out problems. You really shouldn't use 10w40 - it contains more viscisity improvers which are known to cause engine deposits. Ford actually issued a TSB that their testing showed increased ring deposits. the 5.2 is a beefy engine that can tolerate a fair amount of abuse - but why treat it that way? mine has only seen synthetic oil w/regular changes. I fully expect at least 200k out of it.

o4 dakota q/c.no problems here. I usually take mine to the dealership for servicing.just so they have it on record, and its alot easier on me. I like to keep with the fluids and filters that are meant 4 the vehicle, but I will not run champion plugs.

my 4x4 '97 5.2 has 144,000 starting to see possible oil pump problems.(slow to build oil pressure when starting)It has had the oil changed every 5000 mi,Castroil 10/30 then 10/40 as it got more mi.(100,000+) I think the gear in the oilpump maybe scared allowing the oil to siphon out of the filter. I guess I should have changed the oil more often. Someone said to get a filter with a antidrainback valve. I really need to change the pump even if the pressure is still good.

Holy Chit Jarrod, 225k on an '01? I'm guessing that is 90-95% highway miles.

I have an '01 4.7 with 92k and I thought I was pushing it. You go man! LOL.

Oh yeah, no engine probs for me either. Rotors and pads once, front hub assemblies, O2 sensor, Blower resistor and of course, the free ball joints. Other than that, sweeeeeet!

Just hit 96,000 on my 99 5.2. The guy at the oil change place said to run 20w 50 in now because of the miles. it has a small leak that looks as if its coming out of the oil filter but the guy said vavle cover gasket, but it looks like the filter to me. What do you all think about running Castrol 20w 50 ? he said it would stop it from leaking?
