Subject: octane rating IP: Logged
Message: I'm a fresh owner of 04'4,7,QC,4x4.Found in the manual that gas should be Regular 87 octane.Here in Europe the lowest I can get is 95'.do You have any ideas how it works with my Dak ??

Message: it won't hurt. i used to run Torco Blue in my Trans Am (110 octane). Man that stuff smelled good.

Message: Octane rating is just telling you how fast the fuel burns. The higher
the number the slower is burns. So high compression cars need
high octane so they wont ping and predet.

Message: Here in the states octane is determined by averaging the results of 2 different methods of determining octane. I think one is called the "research" method, I forget what they call the other method. It's likely that the EU is figuring octane using a different method than our average, so you should be fine using the lowest grade that doesn't make the engine ping.
