When driving u can hear a popping noise by ur feet and also i can feel it. It usually happens when the road is uneven(like a slope or a dip on one side of the road). I have a 2002 Dakota 4x2 4.7L 60k

i havent checked the ball joints yet. There isnt a recall on my truck though. I put my vin in dodge.com and it said none. IDK...the ball joints are 1st on my list.

i'd check the steering first. Could be a tie rod or an end. I'd just bring it to a shop, front end checks are usually free. They'd be able to diagnose pretty easily. good luck

Correct, there isn't a recall on the ball joints but they did extend the warranty on them to 100k. I have an '01 Dak and the dealer replaced them for free. Think I had somewhere around 80-85k on the truck when they were replaced. My friends went out earlier than mine. Check into it.

You should be able to get your ball joints replaced for free. I had over 60K on my '01 QC 4x4 when the 'recall' went into effect and my dealer replace them at no charge. Check into it, I bet the dealer will replace them at no charge. Good luck!

Its probably the intermediate shaft. My last two dakotas did it. Its annoying as hell. Wait till you lift it.

my truck with 50k flunked safety inspection today. upper ball joints. i have a recall letter from DC. all 2wd trucks built 00 through 12/31/03 have 100K or 10 year warranty on upper ball joints...and wear your seatbelt till then

save yourself some trouble and just have some aftermarket ball joints put on. i had mine done for free at the dealer and 10k miles later they started popping again, they were suppose to have the problems fixed, but in their lazyness probably put a old set of joint's in there.
