Subject: 99 CC R/T vs 05 RC RAM HEMI IP: Logged
Message: I've been trying to look up specs online but haven't had any luck. I have a 99 cc dak r/t that is pretty much bone stock except that i took my cat. converter off b/c it kept getting clogged up. I see these new model hemi rams in either the regular cab or club cab models and was just wondering if anybody would have any first hand knoledge of which truck would win in a stoplight to stoplight race? I am planning on racing the first one that will race me but i'd love to know in advance what my chances are. I would think my truck would be lighter, but I figure that the hemi would have more hp. Thanks for your replies!

Message: i have raced a regular cab hemi from a roll and of a stop light both times being killed and mean KILLED. the truck was stock and had a guy in the passenger seat and a dirt bike in the bed. by time we were across the intersection i was already looking at his tail lights.
r/t 250hp 345lb fts between 4300-4900 pounds
hemi ram rc 345hp 375lbs ft between 4500-5100 pounds
the hemi power to rate ratio is at 14 pounds per hp if the truck weighs 4900 pounds
the r/t is at 18 pounds per hp if the truck weighs 4600 pounds.
his power to weight is better by alot but if he has high rearend gears you should have a good chance. i think the cc r/t does the 1/4 in 15.4 and the hemi rc does it in 15.1. i would go for it!!

Message: thanks for the info
The main thing i was hoping would give me an advantage would be the gears. I know r/t come with 3.90 gears and lsd. What would the ram have and would it have lsd? Thanks.

Message: if the ram has the 20in rims than it comes stock with 3.92s i dont know about the lsd tho but i think it just needs the gears to spin the rims. when i race the kid with the ram he had no traction problems like the dakotas do. i think that the dakota will have more of a problem than the hemi in the launch. if the guy doesnt know what he is doing and you do i think you will put up a good fight and have a good chance of winning. have fun and show that the old v8 is just as good as the new. watch out for the chevy 5.3 too those suckers are fast!

Message: Why dont you install a cold air intake at the very least?
Do the Rams run quicker than 15.2 stock in the quarter? Id venture to say.. not by much.
The R/Ts are kinda piggish in bone stock form anyway.
being that the cat is removed.. you need to get more air in now. If you had to do anything...an M1 intake costs $300ish new.. plus another $80 for install parts. That will make up a huge difference from the Hemi. The 360 is only a 15yr old motor...lol.

Message: TurboBlew the 360 has been around since like 1971 and stayed in production till 2002. making the 360 31 years old.
if you make a intake for your r/t you will pick up some needed ponies.
