Message: Do you have wide tires? Wide tires will go over the snow while thinner tires go thruogh the snow for better traction.

Message: I have a '01 QC 4x4. Best snow vehicle I've ever owned. It's as sure footed as a Yeti in the worst conditions.
The #1 cause of poor traction is poor tires. Wrong tread, wrong style, overinflated, old and hard. Start there first. I use Michelin LTX M/S. Great tire, vast improvement over stock. I never worry about bad weather with this truck.

Message: I put four brand new studded tires on my '03 QC 4wd. Some guys at work thought it was overkill, but I've always run studs on cars. Scooter is my first truck. Only problem now is *no snow*. I'm burning them off on the dry roads...
Someone should invent a tire w/ retractable studs!!
My pet peeve is people in SUVs and trucks w/ so-called all-weather tires who still can't go anywhere, never mind stop (not saying it is you mbk, just got me thinking).

Message: Studs are great on ice. Nothing gives better traction. The Blizzak tires come close, though. OTOH, on any other surface studs provide some of the worst traction of any tire design. On warm wet surfaces, it is absolutly the worst tire ever made.
