Subject: 2001 RT w/2000 PCM IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone done this (2000 Mopar Performance PCM in a 2001 RT)? I am somewhat hesitant about spending $500-650 for a flash of my factory PCM...Would the actual build date on the vehicle affect weather the 2k PCM would work? Any help would be appreciated.

Message: It won't work, there are too many different changes to the codes between the two years. You'll be thrown MIL's all day long. I had the same idea, but I talked to Bernd and he said no go....

Message: Brad Bedell (2001 R/T) grafted a 2000 Mopar PCM to his 2001...but it's a wiring nightmare and not a simple "plug and play" installation.

Message: I have heard over on dodgetrucks.org that a number of guys are doing this successfully on 2001 Rams. 2000 PCM's seem to work on 2001 trucks that have a 2000 build date.

Message: B1, I saw that post also...I'm not sure of the build date though. I used the VIN decoder but all I could get is a model year. Anyone know how to verify the build date?

Message: Look inside the door jab, I think the build date is printed there. Mines says September 99 and it is a 2000 model R/T. I've heard some Durango owners also have tried Dakota PCM and made them work. I think it's a good way to lose $350 trying. At least you could sell it on e-bay for $150, but still $200 hurts.
