Message: Hi , im looking to get a dakota and most of the dodges i seen were equiped with 3.55 LSDs. So heres my question : are all the daks equiped with 3.55 LSDs or only the Sport model and is there any way instead of checking the little tag under the hood to see if its a LSD? ( witouth taking a ride) Thanks.

Message: The 3.55 ratio was the most "popular" gearing, as it was standard on most models. The LSD (it's called Anti-Spin) was only available as an option so it's not as common as the 3.55 gears. It was available on Sport and SLT equally. It came standard on the R/T model (which also has the 3.92 rearend).
Ways to check: 1) The glovebox should have a label showing the installed options. It should plainly state what ratio is installed and if the Anti-Spin differential is installed. 2) Some differential covers have a tab under one on the cover bolts that'll have the rear end ratio noted as "3.5" or "3.9". 3) The axle tube on the driver's side should have a lablel noting the ratio and open/anti-spin presence. 4) When all else fails, raise the rear wheels off the ground, put the tranny in neutral and spin one wheel. Does the wheel on the other side spin the same or the other direction? The same = LSD, the other = open.
