Subject: Weird Noise from front end IP: Logged
Message: I have a weird squeeky noise coming from my front end. I have tried greasing a few of the easy to access zerks, and that has helped, but not stopped it.
Any ideas?

Message: the balljoints could be going bad and those have no zerk fittings if there the factory ones still. how many miles on the truck and is the squeaking only bad when you hit bumps or is it constant? have you driven through a lot of water because if the boots that protect the joints are worn then water gets in there and washes out the grease cosing a squeak. if the problem is worn boots than just get replacement boots.

Message: If you do have to get new ball joints...
Moog makes greaseable ones and they are sold at CarQuest. The model number is K7242.

Message: The noise is definitely not constant, and I do not notice it going down the road. Only when turning the wheel I notice it, and I notice it much more at slow speeds, but that is probably because I am turning the wheels a greater distance to turn.
I plan to crawl under there and have a buddy turn the wheel for me so I can get a good idea of its exact area. The truck has 95,000 and they have not been replaced since 74,000 (when I got it).
Bouts how much would new ball joints run?

Message: It could be the front swaybar bushings. Mine do the same thing. Easy to fix with a little lithium grease.
