At first blush this doesn't look like a bad price. Check www.edmunds.com to get a realistic valuation of what your are considering.
Just something to consider: the 5.9L engine was only put into the R/T models in 1998 & 1999. No Dakota R/T came as a 4x4. With the introduction of the QC in 2000 you could get that engine as well. But, from the factory the 5.9L (in the Dakota) came only with the 46RE automatic transmission.
So, if it really does have the 5.9L engine (instead of the usual 5.2L V8) it was put in by a previous owner.
