Subject: 91 5.2 tranny mount IP: Logged
Message: tranny blew at 260K and had a rebuilt put in. Now at 350K. Replaced tranny mount last week but to install it (dealer item with mounting bracket) I had to lever the tranny at least a couple of inches to one side so that the bracket bolts would find their holes. Something is out of square. Anyone had a similar problem? Otherwise everything sounds fine and only vibration when I'm cruising and let off gas.

Message: I have replaced two of them in my 93. Both times I had the same prob as you - it seems normal in my truck.
Gotta love them on ramps!

Message: The reason you have to do that is that if you have ever tried to set a motor thats not suposed to be in these trucks in these trucks (ie big block ) you'll find out that motor in our trucks is set off to one side and the rear end is not so the tranny mount pulls the motor at a little of an angle to line it up with the rear end, which sould also answer the question that someone some where is gonna ask why do i eat more front u joints then back u joints
