Subject: 94 Faulty Starter Problem IP: Logged
Message: I have an issue with my starter, or some of the wiring to it. Sometimes it just doesnt start, and by the time i get it towed it works again at the shop. I had it replaced in 2001, and rebuilt in 2005. It still does the same thing.
One trick I learned was too, when the car is off, pull the shift lever out of park, and into drive and back up into park. It usually works when I do this. Is there a switch or something in there?
Any help on how to fix this would be great.

Message: park/nuetral safety switch is either bad or out of adjustment.
this site may help you:
http://search.epnet.com/login.aspx?profile=autorefctr
enter username: lcls23 and password: library
if that site doesn't help spend 20 bucks on a Haynes repair manual.

Message: I had the same problem. When I replaced my starter I hadn't aligned it properly so on certain slopes of hills the truck didn't start. Basically all I did to fix it was take it off align it up a little bit more and torque the hell out of the bolts. If that's not your problem then I don't know.
A lot of my problems come from me just not torquing things enough. (hose clamps, header bolts, start bolts, motor mounts) hah.
