Message: Hey Bykerdude59, was just checking back to see what you found - if you haven't checked it yet, I should caution you to be very carefull when checking fuel pressure and volume - make sure no ignition source is present in vicinity of fuel - its easy to splash when checking volume of flow and vapors are very easy to flash under the right conditions. Be safe!

Message: Rustywrenches and Davec: THANK YOU!!!
Well after no getting a chance to touch my truck until 8pm last night I quickly got the fuel line off. Yep, the fuel pump started off good, but soon started spitting out just as much air and crap as it was gasoline. Well, with no car, and the girlfriend at work I had to take a bicycle down to auto zone and get another fuel pump.
Since I was by myself I had to take the tank out from the the truck. Wasn't very easy with it 1/2 full of fuel. Then I got it stuck because the truck was too low to pull it out. Changed it out by 11pm in the garage. Runs pretty good now. Idle still fluctuates a bit (around 400 to 700rpm) but the surging is gone.
Thank you so much.

Message: I wish I would have thought of it earlier. I once had an 89 Ranger. The gas tank leaked on the top, so I took the gas tank out and fixed it. Fought to get it back in. Later I got this bright idea to take off the bed. On a Ranger, 4 bolts, 3 screws and disconnected the wiring harness. Had my son help me pick it off and was able to easily get to the gas tank and the fuel pump. Oh, at the time my son was only 11 or 12. Was not hard to put it back on either. I guess lessons learned, check to see if you can take the bed off easy enough when working on the gas tank, fuel pump or replacing brake lines. One more thing, in the past I've had MOPARS that didn't like to use Autolite plugs. I've always heard that Champion work better on MOPARS and haven't used anything else.
I'm glad you got your wheels going again. Keep on Truckin'

Message: Good call removing the bed. In the dealership, we never pulled tanks outta trucks unless we had to. We always took the front 3 bolts out, loosened the back bolts and tilted the bed up in the front to gain access to the pump. Took about...1/2 hour total.
Mopar's like Champion's because they are designed with Champion's. I always stick with what the car was designed with.
Mopar - Champion
GM - AC Delco
Ford - Motorcraft
Autolites - wouldn't put them in my garbage can
Have fun guys...
Dave

Message: I'm glad I didn't go with Autolites then. I put in those Champion Truck Plugs into my 5.2 and it runs great.
