Subject: Reprogram 4.7 Computer for 5.7 HEMI app IP: Logged
Message: I just replaced my 4.7 with a crate 5.7 HEMI. I need to find someone that can reprogram my 4.7 computer for the 5.7 HEMI application so my tach will read correctly and my electronic transmission will shift correctly. Any HELP out there?

Message: Oh man.... good luck. I've been trying to find someone or somewhere that can merely "tune" my 4.7 with a kenne bell and have had NO luck. I think a stand alone engine managment system is what your going to have to go with. I have a 2000 where the TCM and ECM are still seperate, i beleive yours is all one unit. Sorry i couldn't help ya but if you do find a solution please post back... i would be very interested in talking to your guy. I wonder if you could get a factory computer from a Ram 5.7 auto and make it work though...... hmm

Message: Not sure what you are trying to do, but the 4.7L computer will not work for the 5.7L. Check with this company here in San Antonio and see what they are doing for the 6.1L HEMI/ 2005 Dakota swap that they are doing. I think they are having to get a PCM from Daimler Chrysler Direct to fit the 6.1L HEMI, then making it work for the '05 Dakota.

Message: Thanks for the reply. The crate 5.7 came with a computer for the engine. The 5.7 computer only controls the engine and it runs like a bat out of hell. The tach, electronic transmission, etc. truck function still work off the 4.7 computer which is different technology than the 5.7 ie. 1000 RPM reads about 2000 RPM on the tach, likewise, the transmission shifts hard but won't go into OD without letting of the gas. The the transmission limiter kicks in because it thinks the RPM are to high thus I need to get the 4.7 reprogrammed to read the 5.7 correctly so the non-engine truck function work correctly.

Message: WOW. That sounds like a problem. Looks like the 5.7 has twice the pulses than the 4.7 did at whatever signal input is being used. Someone who knows digital, could intercept what is most likely a 0-5VDC pusled signal and make a simple divide by two circuit to output one pulse for every other at the input. A 99 cent TTL Flip Flop IC would do that. :)
Maybe you should have spent the coin on some boost and spanked that stock 5.7 all to hell with your 4.7? :)
Although, I'm not sure if anyone has been able to get the electronic tranny to shift properly while using boost????

Message: my guess, would be to have the 5.7 computer modified for the other equipment your using. someone is gonna have to do a custom flash for you. im a mechanical guy, not really the electronically inclined type, but i would try that.
