Subject: Oil everywhere???

Message:
Got a '98 Dak that I recently yanked the 3.9L six out and dropped and 5.2L eight in it and love it more than words can say. However, it was burning oil something fierce, so we took the tb off and found oil everywhere in the intake. Closer inspection revealed a blown plenum gasket. Replaced it and is running much better, BUT, now it is sucking oil into the intake through the breather hose from the driver side valve cover. WHY? Can anyone help? Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any help anybody here could give would be great.

If your 1st choice above (PCV) doesn't work you better do a compression check. Hopefully it's the PCV valve but if you have low compression on any cylinder and blow by coming into the air cleaner it's bad news.

Hey guys, I'm pretty sure that I replaced the PCV valve when we put the engine in, just because it was inexpensive and easy to replace, but I will replace it again just to be sure. As for compression, we just ran a test last weekend, and all cylinders came up with good compression, no cylinder was more than 10% less than the highest one and the highest cylinder came in at 180psi, which I'm told is pretty good. It did however jump a little in each cylinder after oiling each cylinder, denoting worn rings. Could this be enough to cause blow by and cause my oil problem? At any rate thanks very much for the replies, every little bit helps.
