Middle of my intake swap...not to hard to do. Only took me 3 hours or so including greasing the coil packs, searching for dropped screws and cleaning up when done.
Lots of snow here so I can't really lead foot it and see what the changes are. Did pop a p0505 code though. Something with the idle, had to relearn it and kept dying at first.

Message: Hmm...I don't see many weather-pak connectors on there, might trip a few (dozen) p-codes. :)

Message: .. those are over-rated
i just like how the 4.7's have those castings on the heads.. almost looks like the hilborn would work if one decided to do without the EFI.

Message: It ain't that awful fast...may make some nice enough numbers at the crank but its turning 3.55LSD and 32" tires on a 4x4 CC. I'd love to lower the gears but that is some serious coin and I don't wanna do that swap myself.
Next mod will be a Superchips...sometime after Christmas probably.
Nice donut vid btw...I've done some real nice ones with my LSD but I don't have a video cam and I usually do that stuff on a whim. :)

3.55 on 32's, wow! That would stink. But it is crazy how much low end the 4.7 has, isn't it?
Can you still spin those? I bet it does. Mine spins even when a trailer is on the back :)
I can't believe you're going to chicken out and not do the gears. I did mine TWICE to get it good. But it was a learning experiance and now I will be fine doing the front diff which is gonna be fun dropping from the truck!
Go 4.56 for SURE with your tires. I've got stock Height and love it!

Message: Yeah, mine had the tire & wheel package so it had 31's. The tires I wanted when it came time for them they only had 32's and mounted one for me, I liked it so thats what I went with.
I'd LOVE to do gears...but the money is a thing for me. I'd keep my stock LSD so that would save some but I still don't know. I also wish I had the 5-45RFE for that second overdrive.
As far as tire roasting...ohh yeah. I was almost afraid to drive on my old Wranglers to get my new tires installed I had them so messed up. Stopped on a small hill and just burnt the living crap out of them for probably 75' in 2nd gear. Twice! :) SOOOO much fun!

Message: Sure you don't have the 5-45RFE ? I'm thinking its only the '00s that got the 4 speed 45RFE ?

Message: Nope, they started that in '03. Sticker says "Multi-Speed automatic transmission". 5-45RFE's say 5spd auto on the sticker.
Personally, I don't like the taller of the two 2nd gear ratio's. Trying to wind out that kickdown 2nd (the taller one) takes to long when passing, hit 3rd and lock the TC and it takes off again (that's the 4.7 torque).
Also, had to do a plug change afterwards...not that the manifold had anything to do with it. Started giving me p0305, then p0300 and 0302 also. P03XX is a misfire code, 00 means multiple cylinders and 01-10 corresponds to a single cylinder. Plugs were originals at 48K miles. Autolite 3923's and it runs much better now.
