Subject: stumbling Dak witts end! IP: Logged
Message: I have been lurking on this forum and reading all I could about the 2200 rpm miss/bucking issue. I have a 1994 with the 5.2. I have over the coarse of this problem replaced the fuel injectors (with bosch units),tps sensor, crank pos sensor, had total of 3 pcm's, replaced fuel pump, of course all tune up related items a couple of times. Over the course of owning this truck I have also had the transmission rebuilt and replaced the complete engine and nothing has made a difference at all. You may drive it two or three days and it will run perfect with not the first hint of even a hiccup and then the next 4 days it runs like crap, missing, bucking ect. Truck only has 128,000 on the odometer and the engine has about 30,000 and 20,000 on the transmission. It gives a code of communication problem with the injectors. Anybody have any ideas of what to try next? I really like the truck when it runs right but I am so fed up if I was not so deep in it as far as $$$$ go I would just get rid of it but I would lose way to much so I have to keep trying to find the solution. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated. thanks, Bill

Message: The symptoms aren't exactly the same but have you checked the 3-wire splice near the underhood fuse/relay box? Supposedly, this is common for your generation of Dak. The wiring harness has a 3-wire splice for fuel and PCM power that is crimped so it's suspectable to corrosion. Do a search for splice. Good luck.

Message: Had the same problem. It was a bad O2 sensor. If you know how to use a voltmeter, you can find instructions on how to test your O2 sensor in a Haynes manual.

Message: Have you tried replacing the pickup coil in the distributor? Also known as hall effect. How about the Distributor itself. Goodluck

Message: I have a 1992 Dak w/ 318 and have had the same problem and replacing the intake manifold gasket solved the problem. Dont know if you have done that or not but it fixed mine.
