Subject: Lousy door locks IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone have a recommended procedure for changing the door lock motors in Dakota trucks. I have already paid the dealer to fix two of them and I refuse to go through that hell again. I know these Dodge doorlocks are defective but they would never admit it.

Message: What year vehicle? They're not bad if you are somewhat mechanically inclined and you have the patience. You'll probably need a torx bit to get the door panel off. Then it's a good idea to make a quick drawing of the layout such as what goes where (latch and lock rods etc.) I had to remove some of the window hardware to get clearance. Oh, and just in case you didn't know it, the lock solenoid is built into the door latch assembly. I saved lots o' money doing it myself.
