That is great highway milage. You only have a 19 galon tank and get 435 miles on a tank clipping along at 70 that give about 23 MPG highway.

2004 4.7 5 sp auto 3.55 gears 4x4 QC

Leer cap @ cab height

Highway mileage checked with the math against the computer is identical @ max 24 mpg Imp / 21 mpg US

Don't drive in town much to figure that out.

machineman: I am sorry you only get 12mpg with yours. I feel fortunate to pull up to 21mpg hwy. Even in town it doesn't use that much more fuel. I still have the stock 245/16 tires, and put 38 psi in them. Limit my jack-rabbit starts ( even though I like doing it ), and keep my hwy speed under 70 mph. Always use cruise on the hwy unless it is slippery, don't tow, and leave OD on.

Only mod is K&N drop-in filter. Crankcase oil is dino Castrol 5W30.

machineman - what do you have, a QC ? I have to tow almost 5000 lbs to dog my '00 4.7 4x4 auto down to 12 mpg. You should be able to do better once you figure out why your milage is so low. Oversize tires ?

I have averaged anywhere from 8 MPG when I Romp on my truck to 20 MPG when I drive like a Granny. That usually doesnt happen very often though. But come to think of it, If I changed my driving habbits, I could cut my fuel cost in half.

Whoohaaa!!!

QC = quad cab. You probably mean 31x10.5x15 - that's what mine came with, got 15mpg with the 3.55 rear; swapped to 4.10 and went up to almost 16. That's enjoying the truck, not trying for good milage. I run the 235s in the winter, but wouldn't want them the rest of the year.

I have a 5.9 w/ 255 55/17's modified exhaust only. I get 14-17.8 depending on the way i drive. I found that that if I drive like the Gramps I am, it carbons up and starts pinging. Those J/R starts may suck a little gas, but it keeps it from pinging, and besided I didn't buy it to baby it.

your gas milage is crap becuase your Odomoter is running slow because of the larger tires
you are actualy poutting on more miles than your odometer thinks you are
lets see, i think if you take your mileage and multiply it by i think its 1.1 or 1.08 it should come out right
i went from 235s on my old dakota to 30s and i had to multiply it by 1.05 to make it correct

1990 sport RC SB, 1995 318drivetrain, 3.92 gears (came with truck) 95 dash/steering wheel, hearthrob exhaust, headers, cutout after y-pipe, necessary electric fan add-a-leafs, 30x9.5 mud tires, cranked T-bars, AR 39 15x8 rims, grill guard, roll bars
