Subject: Fan Clutch IP: Logged
Message: My fan clutch went bad. I found a used one and am trying to figure out if it will fit.
My truck is a 94 Dakota with a 5.2. The clutch is from a 98 Durango with a 5.9.
Any help is appreciated.

Message: I don't think it should be a problem, so long as the threads are the same direction, some are reverse thread, and the bore diameter is the same... lay them side by side, and compare EVERYTHING first... I had a clutch fan on my R/T which has an electric fan too. removed the clutch fan and its in decent condition... if that one doesn't work out, let me know, I'll sell this one to you, its only got 40k miles of use. just post here, I have it linked to email me on responses...

Message: The fan clutch on my 2000 has had to be changed twice! Fan clutches on these Dakotas are a weak link. The local dealer can't keep them in stock during the summer months. The Auto-Zone ones are cheaper but not a good option in my opinion.

Message: Yeah, I totally agree. I work as a tech, these parts (clutch fans) in gereral SUCK... MY best suggestion is to install a electric fan. easier operation, no parasitic loss of horsepower, less fuss, and more reliable operation and function....
