Message: i gotta 01 dakota quad. it's a 4.7 4x4, and i notice a little bit of a hole in the low end torque. it definately won't spin the tires in a straight line on dry pavement but after about 2500-3000 rpm gives a kick and starts picking up speed. I put a 2 1/2 inch dual exhaust system after my muffler and wonder if that has anything to do with it. Any one got any fairly inexpensive suggestions to create some low end torque and horsepower?

has it been to the dealer because it sound like its been Death Flashed? i would chip it with a superchips but that will set you back a bit.
and some mods to slow it down!

Message: Yeah. Maybe the programming. Get yourself the SuperChips programmer :)
You would think the earlier 2001 intake and 65mm TB would have BETTER low end than my 2003 does.
Mine always burned the tires from a dead stop. Even better with some mods.
Also, maybe you have LSD rear diff where spinning two wheels is more difficult. My 4X4 came with open diffs. Of course not anymore :)

Message: '01 will have the 68mm TB; only the '00 Daks got the 65mm. More ignition advance is a good suggestion; swapping in a set of HO cams will also give you more torque throughout the whole range.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Message: This may sound stupid, but do you have full time AWD? Mine does the same thing & it's an AWD.

I started w/ 3.55 on 31". Barely got a bark out of them. CAI, HO cams and Superchips made a big difference. But now that I've got 4.56's hoooooo boy!
