They just got my motor off the run stand and dyno'ed it. It was 553hp not sure about the tourqe but i would guess 500 maybe a little more. I have forged rods, stoker crank(of course),forged pistons, big cam it was a 525 lift comp cam but not to sure about lift, dur. but i THINK im right on the lift. It has edlebrock aluiminum heads ported and polish with bigger valves. The tranny is a 727 full manual auto with shift kit and transbrake. 410 gears and posi. Oh, and a 400 shot of nitrous on that motor too. I left out a lot of things but i'll have a $12,000 tab if anyone would like to know more thats in it.

post some video if possible.

553 fly wheel horses HOLE SH!T :o

they did a 5.0 build up on Horsepower TV. they stroke the 302 to 347ci and were only pushing 370hp with high performance parts all around and it was fuel injected.

Don't laugh but its in a 2001 dakota cc...i will not hookup. I started off on a 4.7 rebiuld with ported and polished HO heads with bigger valves and a 125 shot with forged pistons custom made but i broke the block and 3 pistons and rods. The motor was going to be right at 330hp with 125 shot out of a 4.7.Then i was going a carbed 360 stock motor with about 4 or 5 grand in it but then sunk 12 grand before i knew it. I don't know about the intake but the exhast are i believe 2.05 or 2.08 which ever one is the biggest you can get in a head i know they make 2.05. I know a peice of paper wont hardly fit between the valves. I used absoluty the best of everything...this truck will be fast if it hooks even a little bit mustanges, svt lightings and turbo imports wont stand a chance in he!! i would know because i have a 1994 integra with the 1.8 dohc vtec with msd,3 inch downpipe and 6 pounds of boost and i beat mustanges all day long, and i beat a new gto until about 140 150 and he pulled on me.

if the exhaust is 2.5 the intake will be bigger. if what you say is true than good luck for the other guy.

tired 318 cc 3.55 and some mods to slow it down.

I was taking exception to toolfan's suggestion that intake valves are larger than exhaust valves. Makes you wonder if he has ever had an engine apart. I knew that he had placed the decimal point incorrectly.

Midnightdak: You need to take your 400 shot of nitrous, and run 1/2 of that it into the engine and not spraying the cab. You seem a little high on laughing gas. A 400 shot and it only makes 500 horse. So it makes 100HP all motor. That does not make any sense

I hope you are just kidding about the 400 shot of nitrous, you'll destroy that beautiful motor with that much. Plus, no point having nitrous if you're running over 500 ponies anyway. Just my opinion though.

I'm not sure on the nitrous but,the motor was built to withstand a 400 shot all day long. Right now the motor has 175 jets in it and i'll go from there.

I don't think I have ever seen a 400 shot, but that's beside the point.

a 50 shot does not produce 50 hp

a 150 shot does not produce 150 hp

a 250 shot does not produce 250 hp

So its seems like your just guessing here. Not to mention you $12,000 price tag....it seems like all that and the tranny would be more than $12K. Plus, if I spent 12 G's I would sure as hell know everything about it..which leads me to believe that you are just making this sh@t up.

I know everything about this motor. I told what i had in it if you can read...buddy. You don't hand over 12 grand and not know everything...lol...you see...i tell them what i want and they build it. That why they call them shops. The thing is with everything in this motor and i'll be typing forever. I don't know everything about nitrous but i have seen people run a bigger shot than 400 i'm not saying its right at 400 but it is right they close to 400. I have parts like full rollers and guide plates,a $1500 set of heads, clevite 77 racing bearing with arp main studs and rod bolts, and a barry grant demon 850 carb...believe me everythings true here. I'm 24 and don't have time to make up sh!t for you guys its a fuking waste of my time. For the guy that don't wanna believe me...fuk you! but for you guys who do i can have pics in a couple weeks, i have no camera now and the dakota doesnt have the motor in yet but it goes in monday.

Who is building the motor for you?

$1500 for the heads is awful cheap when you consider that you put twelve grand into the motor.

A shop here in my town. I've dealed with them for a couple years and my buddies dad gets his parts there. He said they do good work but there slow but i would take slow over fast and sh!ty. I would have just built it myself but i know nothing about dodge motors...well not enough to build a motor like this. I don't see $1500 being cheap or $12000 for the motor and tranny and all the labor cheap, but then again i only make $17 a hour...lol. The heads are Edlebrock aluminum. They where just under $1500 from jegs. I'm getting alot of work done. I'll have shorty headers and solid motor mounts and i'm doing away with the plastic shroud with the washer fluid in it and getting a polished aluminum shroud and of course a 5' tach with shift light. It being a 727 full manual tranny i have a rachet shifter in the truck. Thoughs of you who do think that i'm doing this kinda cheap i can get the bill with all the parts and prices on this motor and i'm sure in about a couple days i can find a way to put it up on here for you. This is in no way a cheap build i may have got some good prices knowing that i have done business with them before. Oh yea the best part...msd pro billet distributor and msd 6al box. I wont build a motor without msd ignition. I know i'm still leaving stuff out that i've put in this motor.

I have a 408 I'm building, (don't have much faith in shops even though we employ some of the best techs I've ever met) and I will have over $12,000 in it (and at my price since I work at a speed shop) and will be running Alchohol (which can handle a much larger shot than gas), and it not being an R3 block would never put more than a 200 shot on it. Because Mother MOPAR in all her infinite wisdom only gave the 'A' Block and the 'MAGNUM' Block only 4 head bolts per cylinder (which are spread to the max distance apart, nearly 4"). And even ringing the block or the heads would still not put more than a 250 shot on it. The R3 block was designed for high power and max compression with 6 bolts per cylinder and I would say that a 400 shot on a poorly built $12,000, after the block purchase, motor is pushing the limits.

I pray you never spray a 400 shot on that motor, and if you do I want to see some video footage of it. It might go 1 full pass even with a 2 stage unit, but I doubt very seriously it will go the second pass. In fact I would bet some money it will never see 4 passes on a 400 shot.

I'm not here to argue the point, or say anybody is stupid, but someone needs to know more about MOPAR motors. They are nothing like Chivies. I hope the shop that is telling you that your motor can handle a 400 shot has that in writing with a warranty. I would hate to see you eat the total expense alone.

And I'm curious about the Heads, why the small flow Eddies and not some decent Indys'? And how did they flow bench, was the port velocities still good for the flow? And what pistons are in it, JEs', SRPs', Ross or the Low budget KBs'? And why such a puny cam, only 525 lift? And is it hydraulic or Mechanical? And are you using at least some 1.6 Rollers or 1.7s to at least bump up the lift for those large valves to breath? And what springs, the cheap Comp Double springs, or the good Behive springs? And at what RPM is it making 500+ hp?

Who said stock block...buddie...lol...nothings stock in this motor. I have a small cam because i want an everyday driver. The cams solid, and the shop thats doing it is my buddies uncle so its being built right. All they do is mopar thats why i let him do it and its a 7 month project. I have 1.8 rockers. If you put over 12000 grand in yours and get 500hp someone else will get 600hp with alot less...its not in how much you spend...its how you spend it. A big cam is great but a smaller one is alot better for street.Oh and i like edelbrock...lol.

If you wanted a "small cam" why did you go with "1.8 rockers?"

Btw, I didn't say $12 thousand was "cheap." I said spending only $1500 on the heads was cheap. The mean I think it is less than I would expect, not that the workmanship is shoddy (cheap.)

What carb are you going to run with this 400 shot?

And I will get well more than 500 ponies from mine on my $12,000 investment. If you can keep it together till late spring I will meet you at an IMRA Supertruck event and we can both make passes on max shot till one of them comes apart, I'll be glad to load yours up and take it home for you.

Glad to see your story changing from a local shop to your Uncle. And not a stock block, if it's stroked Right there is nothing stock about it, but if it's Not an R3 I'm Sorry.

Later,
