Subject: cab-on-frame mounts IP: Logged
Message: not even sure if that's what they're called- anyway, all four of those rubber bushings have pretty well disintegrated. Has anyone else ever had to replace these? I'm wondering if I have to lift the cab off the frame to install a new set.

Message: candak,
My 2000-2002 parts manual calls them ISOLATORS. There's 2 at each cab mounting point - an upper (compression) and a lower (rebound). Probably a dealer item.
You didn't state what year and model you have.

Message: it's a 91 reg cab w/8ft box and 318- the rubber has pretty well disintegrated- the truck has been worked fairly hard over the years.

Message: the isolators are basically bushings to soften vibration from the frame to the cab. I recently found my left-front isolator bolt ready to fall out. No, you don't have to do any lifting and the nuts are braze-ons so just wrench away until they're tight. Manual calls for 60 ft lbs torque

Message: I couldn't find them after-market, so I went crawling to the dealer- don't order the spacers because yours are probably ok- but you should order three pieces for each corner you wish to do: the isolator which sits above the frame, the bushing which sits below the frame, and a bolt- cost me $80/corner (my dak isn't worth what these bushings cost me)....took less than half an hour- BUT be careful not to strip the bolt or the keeper which the bolt is threaded into.
