Subject: 3" Exhaust IP: Logged
Message: Would it be possible/legal to run an aftermarket muffler on a 2001 4.7 V8 with the stock size pipes in and a 3" pipe out? When you flow air from a smaller size to a larger it creates vacuum which would suck the exhaust out, which i think would preform better having a very free flowing exhaust. I woke up in the middle of the night with this one. Please let me know if this theory would work.

Message: The 4.7 relies on back pressure to achive maximum torque. Increasing the size will not give you better performance.
