I just bought a 2000 dakota with a 4.7l 5 speed and only 58,000 miles. The motor runs great and the manual transmission shifts nice, I am very impressed with the tire smoking combo. The problem is the front end is making a whinning noise but its only when the wheel is straight and turning left, the noise goes away when I start turning right and I belive it is coming from the front left. Also when brraking at lower speeds the frond end kind of shakes and vibrates. Does anyone know what the problems might be? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Warped brake rotors would cause the vibrations.. buy new ones. and the whining noise means you might need a new power steering pump... or steering gear box (if your truck has one) or maybe even both...

The whine only happens when I am driving, when parked i hear nothing, and the faster I drive the loader and higher pitched the moan gets. Could this still be the power steering pump?
Thanks

what about wheel bearings? if you have a whinning as you go faster and in a straight line. cant see how you PS pump would get louder as you go faster. so I would check the wheel bearings. heard people talk about whinning and that was the prob.

I have a 01' 4.7L and I had to replace the power steering pump at around 60K Check your fluid level and the seal between the reservoir and your pump. That crap will eat away at your paint if its leaking. Fix it asap.
