Message: I had a Dual Friction clutch put (from Summit Racing) in my 02 at the end of June. Everything was fine for a few months, but then I started having trouble getting her into first/reverse from a stop. It doesn't grind at all, but it just won't go into gear. Once I drive it for a bit (20 miles or so) then it is much better.
I took it to the dealer yesterday and they said I had a bad clutch without taking it apart. I have a hard time believing that the clutch is bad after a few months and like I said, everything is fine once it warms up a bit. Also to my delight, I found that the centerforce warranty is only 90 days! What kind of warranty is that!
When I had the OEM clutch in there, I took it in because it felt like it was slipping. The dealer said I had a bad throwout bearing and replaced it for the cost of the bearing.
I am getting the feeling that maybe there is something else going on that is causing the throwout bearing to fail prematurely?
I just want to get this taken care of without the dealer robbing me blind! Every time they pull it apart, it costs me 400 bucks! If there is an issue with alignment, shouldn't this be covered under warranty? Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance!

Message: Here's my guess right or wrong > Going with the cluch you bought I assume you knocked the original out > My bet is you get on it a lot plus I'm betting your keeping your foot laying on the cluch peddle for fastest possible shifting > Riding the cluch eats up throw out bearings > Riding the cluch even lightly during racing conditions can cause miner to major slippage of the cluch > Any of this sound about right ? Cluch parts are disposible wear items > Surprised you got a warrenty on the cluch at all with it being a racing item > Speed cost bucks > Hope your a menber of the working class

Message: It turns out that there was a little clip (that is a part of the clutch fork)that broke. It cost me 500 bucks to replace a $3.30 part! Other than that, the clutch/throwout bearing was 100% fine. My guess is that the mechanic that installed the clutch in the first place bent the clip and it eventually failed. How do you prove that though?
